Historic sites and house museums are increasingly outsourcing management and visitor services functions to gain operating efficiencies and to control cost.  In this Historic House Call, Lawrence Yerdon, President and CEO of Strawbery Banke Museum in Portsmouth, NH, will discuss the pros and cons of outsourcing as a strategy and share his experience at outsourcing the management of Strawbery Banke’s gift shop.  The call will be moderated by Joshua Campbell Torrance, executive director of Woodlawn in Ellsworth, Maine, where outsourcing staff functions has been a successful management tool.
