There is still time to be a part of the program for the AASLH 2023 Annual Conference, which will be held in Boise, Idaho on September 6-9. While all the sessions have been chosen, we have other opportunities for people to get involved with the conference.
- Poster Session: The poster session is an opportunity to share project-based work with attendees in a creative, visual format that invites lively discussion. It can be useful for works-in-progress, student-driven work, ephemeral or temporary projects, and collaborative or experimental work. The deadline is Friday, June 23 to submit a proposal.
- Learning Circle Host: Learning Circles are a way to connect new conference attendees or those who are wanting a deeper networking experience into cohorts who will meet throughout the conference to encourage connection and conversation. Learning Circle Hosts will serve as a guide and mentor for the people in their small group. AASLH will convene up to eight cohorts of six or less peers several times throughout the conference, each group facilitated by a seasoned history professional. If you are interested, email Bethany Hawkins, [email protected].
- Meet and Eat Lunch Leader: AASLH is encouraging attendees to get out and explore Boise. On Thursday, September 7 from 12:30-1:45 p.m., we are offering Meet and Eat Luncheons for people not attending an affinity meal but wanting to enjoy some conversation and meet new colleagues. If you host a Meet and Eat, you pick the restaurant and write a short three-sentence blub about your goals for the event. It can be as easy as meeting new colleagues or as deep as solving the biggest issue in the field. AASLH will handle registration and connecting you to your diners. Everyone is responsible for their own food and beverage costs. If you are interested, email Bethany Hawkins at [email protected] for more information.
- Filmapalooza: Throughout the conference, there will be a screening room designated in the Boise Centre where films who have won an AASLH Leadership in History Award will be shown. There is also an opportunity for other organizations to submit their films for consideration. A list of films and times will be released closer to the conference. If you have a film or short documentary you think should be included, contact Aja Bain at [email protected].
