As congregations around the country shrink, disband, or move into more modern facilities, hundreds of church buildings are left vacant. These structures, many of which are historically or architecturally significant, have been torn down and replaced with the passing of time. As part of their “American Journey” series CNN recently published an article highlighting with the adaptive reuse of former church buildings across the country. The article discusses how owners of former religious buildings have transformed these structures into homes, bookstores, and even nightclubs. The article provides an interesting view on preserving the religious history of communities. To access the article click here.
