AASLH is pleased to introduce Amber N. Mitchell as our first ever Education and Service Coordinator. In this new position, Amber will introduce new and re-imagined Continuing Education courses for museum and history lovers of all kinds, as well as manage several of AASLH’s Affinity Communities.
A native of Detroit, Michigan and a graduate of Wayne State University, Amber recently moved to Nashville to join AASLH from the Public History Graduate Program at Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis. As an IUPUI student, she worked with the Indiana Historical Society’s exhibitions department and with Indiana Humanities, the state’s humanities council. Other professional experiences include the Detroit Historical Society, the Henry Ford (Henry Ford Academy Class of 2009!), the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, and the National Museum of American History. Her professional affiliations not only include AASLH, but also the National Council on Public History and the Association of African American Museums.
