We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back.

Today, Tuesday, December 2, 2014, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

Opportunity Knocks But Once

History is not a luxury, it is essential. You make history daily and your institutions record and share history’s stories for our communities. And together with you and your institutions, AASLH has served as the compass that guides us to our Home for History for 75 years.

Next December 2015 represents AASLH’s 75th anniversary. The AASLH Council—your volunteer leadership—has taken this unique opportunity to launch a special initiative to celebrate the anniversary: The 75 for 75 Campaign.

As we enter our next 75 years, we have challenged ourselves to raise $75,000 to not only celebrate AASLH’s past achievements, but to embrace our current work as our Home for History, and to boldly envision a future for AASLH as a transformative agent in the field of history.

We need less than 900 History Lovers to give $75 to meet our goal.

Your gift to AASLH for its 75th year will help us

  • Celebrate our past through processing the AASLH institutional archives and publication of special editions of History News.
  • Embrace our present.
  • Provide additional funds to expand staff’s outreach by visiting all 50 states within the next four years.
  • Envision and shape a bold new future for our Home for History, as the field adapts to the challenges of the twenty-first century.

In this 75th anniversary year, we need to be reminded that “Opportunity knocks but once, regret opens the door every day.” Opportunity is knocking, are you going to open the door as we enter our 75th year?

Join your AASLH Council in providing AASLH a boost as it begins its next 75 years!

Thank you!
