VAM LogoThe Virginia Association of Museums (VAM) is pleased to announce we have launched our new website and interactive community, powered by YourMembership.com. Members can now easily connect with each other on www.vamuseums.org, where they can create online profiles, maintain connections with colleagues, message one another, belong to and contribute to groups, blogs and more. “The new VAM interactive and information packed web site is a ‘must use’ resource for members, affiliated sponsors, and supporters. Congratulations to the staff for all of their hard work in getting it launched and running,” says Al Schweizer, VAM’s president.

The online community includes an enhanced career center, sponsored by the University of Richmond School of Professional and Continuing Studies, where business and museum members can review resumes posted in online profiles and have access to our enhanced job posting service, free of charge.

In addition to our new online community, Flourish Creative, a VAM Consultant member, has been working to update the VAM brand. They have designed a fresh new logo for VAM, a new Top 10 Endangered Artifacts logo, as well as some of our web banners. We at VAM are in the process of integrating these new elements into all of our print and web materials. These new designs reflect VAM’s dynamic community. We’d like to thank Laura Marr of Flourish Creative for her work on this project. Her designs, paired with our clean new website, mirror VAM’s image as a leader among state museum associations.

Finally, with the debut of the new site, VAM has made improvements to its membership structure. Most notably, all full time students may now join VAM for free. This is thanks to the many museum level and benefactor level members, and to VAM’s many faithful supporters. Offering free student membership in VAM is a perfect way for the museum community to “pay it forward” and embrace those who will make up the future of the Virginia and DC museum community.

VAM encourages its members to visit the new www.vamuseums.org, log in, and explore all that it has to offer. We will be rolling out a series of emails introducing and explaining new features of the site for our audience. As always, members should feel free to reach out to VAM staff if they have any questions at all about the new site.
