Two AASLH Conferences

Building on the reach and success of last year’s online annual meeting, we are happy to announce that it is almost time for AASLH’s 2021 conferences. Yes, we did say “conferences”—plural as AASLH will have two conferences in the fall, each with distinct experiences. The AASLH/Arkansas Museums Association 2021 Annual Meeting will be held in person in Little Rock on September 22-25. The AASLH 2021 Online Conference will be held on October 12-15. The theme of both conferences is Doing History/Doing Justice.

AASLH/AMA 2021 Annual Meeting, September 22-25
The Annual Meeting in Little Rock is designed to be a transformative experience. The goal is for every attendee to have the opportunity to be a true participant in a rich offering of workshops, tours, in-depth discussions, hands-on experiences, and social events. Days spent onsite with colleagues will include more shared experiences inside and out of the conference program. Attendees will also be encouraged to visit history institutions and sites in the Little Rock area with colleagues or on their own and to participate in workshops and tours that maximize the history, culture, and places of the host city. Preregistration for this conference is closed, but you do have the opportunity to register onsite in Little Rock at the Statehouse Convention Center.

AASLH 2021 Online Conference, October 12-15
The 2021 Online Conference will continue to be an inspirational and informative experience. The online meeting will focus on sessions that allow speakers to share their stories, strategies, and expertise while interacting with participants through the chat function and some breakout rooms. The flexibility of the online format also allows the conference to be more reflective of crucial topics that emerge for the field in the months and weeks before the virtual meeting. The preliminary program is available on the AASLH website. Happy hours and discussion groups will also make more use of the Zoom breakout rooms to encourage conversation between participants.

Registration is only $55 for members and $75 for nonmembers. There is also a free registration option that offers limited access. The registration deadline is October 7. If you are interested in registering several employees from your institution, please contact Rey Regenstreif-Harms at regenstreif-harms@aaslh.org.

Don’t miss this opportunity to connect to your colleagues and catch up on the state of the field after two very difficult years. We’ll see you there!
